Team Development – Collaboration That Actually Holds Up

A team doesn’t come into being simply because people work together. It comes into being when they develop a shared sense of “we” that motivates them to perform at their best. Team development with the verrocchio Institute creates exactly that space: a structured, protected environment in which teams have the conversations that too often don’t happen in everyday work life.

What Is a Team Development Workshop?

Well-functioning teams aren’t a given. They require work, clarification of roles, agreements about communication, and trust that is built deliberately. A professionally facilitated team development workshop brings this work into a clear timeframe, with clear methods and a clear outcome: agreements that the team actually carries forward afterward.

We don’t do fun events with a guaranteed lack of impact. We work on what actually moves teams forward: trust, role clarity, shared values, and how to handle conflict. For this we use methods that allow genuine depth without feeling therapeutic. What gets spoken and agreed upon in the workshop holds afterward.

Our conviction: every team can improve when it’s willing to take an honest look at itself. We provide the tools and the external facilitation that ensures all voices are heard, not just the loudest ones. The result is always a deeper understanding of the team and a team commitment that is genuinely lived.

A team-building workshop is the foundation for successful collaboration

Who is it for?

Team development is the right format for any team that senses its collaboration could be better, or that wants to deliberately raise its performance to a high level. It’s essential for new teams following a reorganization or merger, for teams with chronic friction points or communication problems, and for leadership teams that want to establish a particular culture of collaboration.

Remote and hybrid teams also benefit enormously: digital collaboration only works when explicit agreements are in place, agreements that in office life often emerge implicitly. Typical occasions: team kickoff after reorganization, start-of-year event, leadership offsite, crisis intervention following conflict, proactive investment in high-performance teamwork.

Our Workshop Formats

No company is like any other, so we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all format. We always adapt length, depth, and methodology to your specific situation.

Half-Day Workshop (4 hours)
The compact kickoff for teams of up to 15 people. Focused on one concrete topic, with immediately usable results. Also available with a keynote input from Christian Buchholz. Ideal as an entry point or as a complement to an existing event.

Full-Day Workshop (8 hours)
Our most-booked format. Enough time for a complete run-through: analysis, creative phase, evaluation, prioritization, next steps. For teams of up to 25 people.

Two-Day Team Development Program
The complete format for teams that mean business. From getting to know individual strengths and working styles, through shared goal and values work, to concrete team agreements and a genuinely lived commitment. With optional follow-up coaching after three months.

In-house, hybrid, or online
We run all formats at your premises, at an external location of your choice, or fully remote. The quality of facilitation and results stays the same either way.

Our Methods

Three methods form the backbone of our team development work: Team Canvas, structured retrospectives, and conflict facilitation. They transform workshop energy into agreements that are actually lived, and ensure the impact doesn’t evaporate by Monday morning. More than 1,000 additional methods on innovation.wiki, from which we draw selectively depending on the team’s situation.

Our Credentials

Why verrocchio?

The verrocchio Institute for Innovation Competence was founded by Christian Buchholz and Benno van Aerssen, two of the most experienced innovation coaches in the German-speaking world. Together they have accompanied more than 2,000 international innovation projects, inspired more than 25,000 people, and written six books, including the standard reference “Das große Handbuch Innovation.” Today the team is complemented by experienced innovation facilitator Christina Westing and a network of verrocchio experts.

What sets us apart from other providers isn’t the methodology alone, it’s the attitude. We work in the engine room of companies, where things get practical and where the new actually emerges. We don’t deliver presentations that end up on a shelf afterward. We work with you until the ideas are running.

Our name says it all: Andrea del Verrocchio was the teacher of Leonardo da Vinci, a master who didn’t put himself at the center but brought out the best in his students. That’s exactly our role in your team development workshop.
