Business Model Workshop – Creating New Paths to Value
The business model that made you great will, statistically speaking, become a problem in the (near) future. Not because it’s bad, but because it will stop working. Business Model workshops with the verrocchio Institute break this pattern: in our workshops, teams analyze their existing business model, discover new value creation logics, and develop concrete alternatives.
What Is a Business Model Workshop?
Every successful company has at some point found a business model that works. The problem: business models that won yesterday are often precisely the ones that will be displaced tomorrow. Technological disruption, shifting customer expectations, platform dynamics, global competition — the half-life of successful models is getting shorter. Those who don’t actively manage this will be managed by it.
A business model workshop gives teams the methods to systematically question and rethink their own value creation logic. We don’t ask “Where do we want to go?” but “How do we create value for whom, and how do we make money doing it?” This seemingly simple question is often the most difficult of all, because it challenges the fundamental assumptions on which the company was built.
We use established frameworks, but not as a checklist. They are thinking tools that we combine with creative techniques from our innovation.wiki to discover genuine options. The result isn’t pretty canvas posters, but evaluated business model options with clear decision-making foundations.
Who is it for?
A business model workshop is the right format for companies that want to actively expand their strategic room to maneuver. Particularly relevant for established companies under pressure from disruption or new competitors, for companies that want to open up new markets or address new target groups, and for corporate innovation teams that want to systematically generate and evaluate new business ideas. Family businesses navigating a generational transition also benefit considerably.
Typical starting situations: core business under margin pressure, digitalization opening up new sales channels, platform dynamics transforming the industry, commoditization of existing offerings, the company wanting to initiate a second growth phase.
Our Workshop Formats
No company is like any other, so we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all format. We always adapt length, depth, and methodology to your specific situation.
Half-Day Workshop (4 hours)
The compact kickoff for teams of up to 15 people. Focused on one concrete topic, with immediately usable results. Ideal as an entry point or as a complement to an existing event.
Full-Day Workshop (8 hours)
Our most-booked format. Enough time for a complete run-through: analysis, creative phase, evaluation, prioritization, next steps. For teams of up to 25 people.
Two-Day Business Model Sprint
The complete business model innovation cycle: analysis and deconstruction of the existing business model, inspiration through business model patterns from other industries, systematic ideation for new value creation logics, evaluation and prioritization, development of a business model prototype with hypotheses and a validation plan.
In-house, hybrid, or online
We run all formats at your premises, at an external location of your choice, or fully remote. The quality of facilitation and results stays the same either way.

Together they have accompanied more than 2,000 international innovation projects, inspired more than 25,000 people, and written six books, including the standard reference “Das große Handbuch Innovation.” Today the team is complemented by experienced innovation facilitator Christina Westing and a network of verrocchio experts.
What sets us apart from other providers isn’t the methodology alone, it’s the attitude. We work in the engine room of companies, where things get practical and where the new actually emerges. We don’t deliver presentations that end up on a shelf afterward. We work with you until the ideas are running.
Our name says it all: Andrea del Verrocchio was the teacher of Leonardo da Vinci, a master who didn’t put himself at the center but brought out the best in his students. That’s exactly our role in your business model workshop.
